A Wilkes County, N.C., insurance agent pleaded guilty to 14 counts of misdemeanor larceny, reduced from felony insurance fraud, for misrepresenting her loss after a fire in her home.

Frances Moore, 62, owner and operator of Fran Moore Allstate Agency, was sentenced to 90 days in jail, which was suspended, and placed on supervised probation for 60 months, according to Journalpatriot.com. She was ordered to pay more than $27,000 in restitution to Allstate, the publication said.

Moore must permanently surrender her insurance license and enter an inpatient facility for treatment of depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, under terms of her plea agreement, the newspaper reported.

One of the indictments resulted from her claiming $28,000 for leasing an apartment for 10 months, when Moore and her husband never actually lived there, according to Journalpatriot.com.

The fire, on which the charges were based, destroyed Moore’s home. She and her husband lost all of their belongings. Damages were estimated to be $250,000.
