Ohio tying of insurance license renewals to compliance partially panned

One-third of participants in the latest IFAwebnews.com poll say that Ohio’s plan to review all insurance agents for tax and workers’ compensation law compliance prior to renewing their licenses is unfair.

The remaining 67% of those participating in the poll say the move by the Ohio Insurance Department is appropriate.

The department recently announced that no insurance licenses for agents or agencies would be renewed unless the parties involved were in compliance with all state tax requirements, including filing and paying taxes, as well as all workers’ compensation requirements.
