Ga. teacher charged in $12,700 disability insurance fraud

A Snellville, Ga., elementary school teacher was arrested Sept. 10 for allegedly collecting about $12,700 in disability insurance while employed as a fourth-grade teacher.

Doshia Mears was charged with fraudulently receiving the funds from disability insurance while “gainfully” employed by Gwinnett County Schools, according to WSBtv.com.

Mears was hired as a teacher at the school in August 2010, when the alleged fraud began.

Investigators arrested Mears, although jail records indicate she is no longer in jail, according to WSBtv.com.
