The National Association of Health Underwriters has moved to Washington, D.C., putting it closer to elected officials who play such a large role in determining the future role of insurance agents and brokers.
The group, representing about 100,000 insurance professionals, also recently unveiled a new logo.
Its national operations had been based in Arlington, Va.
But with federal health reform moving forward and other important issues facing the membership, the decisions was made to move closer to Capitol Hill, NAHU officials said.
“NAHU has worked tirelessly both on Capitol Hill to establish a name legislators, policymakers and industry representatives know and trust,” said NAHU CEO Janet Trautwein in a statement. “Moving closer to both government officials and our coalition partners allows us to better serve our membership and the American families and businesses they represent.”
She said the new logo and offices “reflect both the evolution of the association and the transformative changes occurring in the health insurance industry,” while promoting NAHU’s role.
With overwhelming approval from the national board, this is the first major change to the logo in nearly 30 years. The design of the logo is symbolic with the arc representing the protection health insurance brings to all Americans. NAHU members are health insurance professionals involved in the sale and service of health insurance products serving the health coverage needs of millions of Americans.

November 8th, 2011 at 6:33 pm! read today about the proposal to renoneduce medicare supplements ins. polices, only to make medicare advantage plans or part c of medicare that has a maximum out of pocket as high 6700.00 per advantage plan issued to seniors citizens, although the plans are subsidise by CMS or tax payers, most seniors have no idea of the OOP expense. Why is the goverment insisting that private medicare supplement have additional deductables and co-pays? taking away the options of paying slightly more in premium to eliminate any and all payment to health care provides.I think the gov. motovation is to make medicare supplement an equally unappealing plan like the medicare advantage plan so more seniors will enroll. If a couple were hospitalized at the same time, could conceviable pay 2 times 6700.00 or 13400.00 dollars. private medicare supplement DO NOT HAVE THIS devistating MOOP expense.Seniors do not like paying co-pays every time they receive any type of medical care, but because most medicare advantage plans or PART C of medicare are free at least the first year they sign-up during the annual enrollment period and seem to keep a deaf ear to the real cost when they have a serious condition . My agency writes medicare supplements and long term care ins. products since 1988. sincerely john yesbeck agency owner
