The Anne Arundel County chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) is planning its Second Annual Bears for Bears event Dec. 21 in Annapolis, Md.

Maj. Edward Bergin of the Anne Arundel County Police Department and Sherriff Ron Bateman of the Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Department will be accepting stuffed bears donated by members of NAIFA-Anne Arundel, as well as any other insurance or financial service professionals who attend the event.

Stuffed bears are used by law enforcement officials, including police officers and firefighters, to calm children when they or their families are involved in emergencies or crimes.

“Because these events are a travesty to children, it usually falls in the hands of law enforcement and first responder’s to be the first to comfort a child when tragedy strikes,” said Brett M. Sause, immediate past president of the NAIFA-Anne Arundel group.

The event is open to all NAIFA members and the cost of admission is at least one stuffed bear. NAIFA-Anne Arundel meets at the Double Tree Hotel on Riva Road in Annapolis.

Breakfast is at 8 a.m, with the monthly meeting starting at 8:30 a.m.
