The first employee hired by Eastern Insurance Holdings, a Lancaster, Pa.-based insurance company, has been named successor to its founder, Bruce M. Eckert.

Eastern Insurance Holdings Inc. opened a satellite office in Western Pennsylvania for its subsidiary, Eastern Alliance Insurance Group (EAIG), a domestic casualty insurance group specializing in workers’ compensation insurance.

Eastern Alliance Insurance Group (EAIG) and its members had its ratings upgraded in recognition of its strong operating results and capitalization, as well as its conservative practices and financial flexibility, according to A.M. Best Co.
