The amount of inforce individual disability income insurance rose 2% in 2011, reaching a total of more than $4.5 billion, according to a new survey of carriers.

Nearly half (48%) of Medicare supplemental coverage providers expect to grow this year, while another 40% of providers surveyed said they expect sales to match their 2010 levels.
