A plan for creating a Maryland health insurance exchange, calling for more study of how the exchanges will be marketed, has been sent to Gov. Martin O’Malley for approval.

The Maryland House of Delegates passed a bill creating health exchanges that softens the state’s approach toward implementing federal health reform.

The Maryland General Assembly has scheduled a March 9 public hearing on a bill that would take a far more aggressive approach toward health reform in the state than passed at the federal level last year.

As reported on IFAwebnews.com, broker Steve Salamon and other professionals – including business owners – have launched the Health Insurance Buyers & Brokers Coalition (HIBBC) of Maryland to ensure brokers still have a place in the health insurance distribution chain.
