The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has awarded a contract with a New York company to provide third-party liability and cost containment services.
HMS was awarded a contract by ValueOptions, a Norfolk, Va.-based behavioral health care company, to perform coordination of benefits and overpayment services for its at-risk plans in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
As a direct result of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) – also known as ObamaCare – health insurance agent and broker commissions have been slashed by as much as 50%. Agencies have been forced to lay off employees, limit products and services, shift to other lines, and have seen significant drops in compensation.
