An insurance industry trade group representing agents in Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania has expanded a tool to help its members better protect their books of business and its value.

Like many states, Maryland faces a multi-billion dollar budget shortfall for the current fiscal year, but legislators don’t appear to be closing that gap in the same manner as their counterparts in Connecticut.

As Pennsylvania continues to deal with its budget problems, agents groups in the state say they do not expect to see higher licensing fees.

While insurers deal with the pending impact of H1N1, insurance agencies should also prepare for the impact of a possible pandemic event, according to the Insurance Agents & Brokers Service Group.

The Pennsylvania insurance commissioner met recently with the board of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers Service Group, discussing what the group described as “hot-button issues.”
