The majority of American workers lack either short-term or long-term disability insurance, and just 25% of workers completely understand the offerings, according to a new study.

Standard Insurance Co. is now offering Your Choice Group Voluntary Long Term Disability insurance, a product that combines long-term disability features with certain Short Term Disability insurance features, the company said.

Employees assign a greater value to their total benefits package than cash, a result that surprised the survey’s sponsor.
