A Charlotte, N.C.-area man who lacked health insurance says he robbed the RBC Bank in Gaston County, N.C., earlier this month so he could obtain health coverage – in prison.

A Wilson, N.C., woman was arrested after receiving $6,693 in insurance claims from Nationwide Insurance Co. for a robbery she allegedly staged.

A Royersford, Pa., man admitted to a scam in which he received $79,600 from Allstate Insurance for jewelry he reported as stolen, but was actually used as collateral for loans.

A Philadelphia, Pa., man received a five-year suspended sentence and 18 months of probation for his part in a staged armed robbery, including shooting a relative, orchestrated to help his cousin access workers’ compensation benefits.

An insurance agent with Prudential Financial Services in Manhattan avoided jail time, but must repay $5,900 from a New York bank he admitted to robbing in January.
