A Washington, D.C.-based advocacy organization says that the federal health reform should be declared unconstitutional because it is cannot function without the individual mandate, which the group also argues is unconstitutional.

In a move U.S. House leaders say will promote competition in the marketplace and additional freedom for the American people, the Congressional body has voted to strip private health insurers of their 65-year-old antitrust exemption.

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed reforms to the non-admitted insurance, or surplus lines, and reinsurance market, a move praised by two national agents’ groups.

Two senators have introduced the Nonadmitted and Reinsurance Reform Act of 2009, a companion bill to the House version introduced two months ago.
