California insurance regulators are introducing, to the dismay of the insurance industry, controversial legislation to limit self-insurance for small businesses that they say undermines the federal health care reform.

The U.S. District Court in Nevada has ruled in favor of a risk-retention group in its fight against that state’s attempt to bar its operations despite federal preemption under the Liability Risk Retention Act (LRRA).

SIAA Inc., the largest alliance of independent property-casualty insurance agencies in the country, announced that its Master Agency partner Potomac Insurance Network (PIN), based in Baltimore, Md., signed its 100th member agency. PIN now has a total of 3,767 signed members.
