Unitrin announced its new name will be Kemper Corp., effective Aug. 25, when the company also will begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the KMPR ticker symbol.

Unitrin has bought the “Kemper” name from Lumbermens Mutual Casualty Co., finally permanently putting the name with the company that operates under it.

Janice M. Abraham, president and chief executive officer of Chevy Chase, Md.-based United Educators Insurance, was elected as the new chairwoman of the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America.
