Large life and annuity insurers fared better than smaller insurers in an independent ratings service’s analysis of what companies are strong enough to be recommended to consumers.

Carmel, Ind.-based Conseco received regulatory approvals to have Wilton Reassurance Co. coinsure about 104,00 non-core life insurance policies, the company said.
